Title: Genuine Leather Interior
Author: M. Durango
Length: 3,000 words
Publisher: Torquere Press
Genre: m/m contemporary Romance
Kyle Reston is a valet at a parking garage serving a variety of high-end clients. Kyle also has a particular affinity for the leather interior of businessman Aaron Gallagher’s hot little convertible — and for Aaron himself. Will Kyle’s fetish lead to more or will their differing stations keep them apart?
This was an nice little addition to the Charity sips this year with the only problem being that it was too short. It tells of Kyle who works as a valet to pay his way through College. There’s one car and owner in particular who’s caught Kyle’s eye, but he refuses to date a customer, despite the fact that Aaron’s car has a leather interior which sends Kyle’s pulse rocketing.
The major plus point in this book was the character of Kyle who has a bit of a leather kink. He’s a decent chappie who gets on with his job, tries to be as conscientious as possible and ignores the jibes of his annoying co-worker. He’s a nice guy and I liked him. We don’t get much about Aaron at all apart from that he’s rich and he finds Kyle attractive and so he remains a little of a shadowy figure. I would have liked to have known more, especially as to why he was rich and what attracts him to the much younger Kyle.
After a sex scene in the car, which managed to be both hot and slightly awkward, the story skips on into the future to a steady HEA for the pair, but I felt a little cheated out of seeing their relationship develop.
In the end, this was a nicely written short with a sympathetic character in Kyle and a slightly humourous but sexy premise in Kyle’s love of leather. However, it was a little too short for me and left me with a vague feeling of dissatisfaction – possibly because I was enjoying it and wished for a whole lot more.
