Drey’s friend Ruby has set him up on yet another blind date. Drey’s not fond of blind dates — they’re awkward and have a huge potential for embarrassment. When he meets Milton, though, he begins to wonder if Ruby didn’t get it right this time: the man is hot and they seem to be avoiding all the usual blind date pitfalls. Could this be the start of something good?
Review:
This story starts out with Drey suddenly coming to the realization that his mother has died, when he sees the cupboards where she always kept cookies for him empty. The cookies were something he always associated with home and love. Sometime later he agrees to go on a blind date set up by his friend. Amazingly they hit it off and when they get back to Milton’s house, he offers him cookies which just seals the deal.
This is a cute story, Drey’s nervousness about the date is very well done, he’s been on washouts before but he knows there is no point in fighting his friend. Luckily she was not ever on-page because she’s the type of interfering overbearing friend I detest. Drey knows she’s going to be totally smug about her success but he’s so pleased he’s prepared to deal with her.
This is a cute little story of two nice guys who find each other and the physical attraction is fast and strong, however ultimately its a forgettable little fluffy piece that is a nice palette cleanser between heavier angstier books, but not something I would likely pull out again any time soon. I always find this author’s stories accessible easy reads and this story is no different.
I think I’ll pass on this one….
I wouldn’t term it a must-read but it’s a pleasant enough one should someone be looking for something light and a bit fluffy.
