Brief Encounters is no longer accepting submissions as we are taking a hiatus from reviewing for personal reasons. This could change in the future, but for at least 6 months there will be no new reviews unless already promised.
Thank you for your understanding and good luck with your writing.

========================
At Brief Encounters we would be delighted to receive your book for review.
Please see the following guidelines:
We only accept stories that are labelled as ‘short stories’ or ‘novelettes’ by the publisher, which usually amounts to under 20,000 words, for review. I’m afraid we do not review novella length books, nor do we review anthologies, although we will consider short stories that are published both as a separate book and are also included in an anthology. We accept all types of published stories, those under contract with traditional presses or e-presses, as well as self-published or free works available for download.
All genres and styles of story will be considered for review as long as it is categorised as a romance story and that the main pairing is m/m, or m/m/m ménage. I’m afraid we do not review m/m/f ménage stories.
The aim is to keep the main body of our reviews to a maximum of 500 words (ie. not including the book information or blurb). We feel this is a fair length for a review of a short story.
Sending your story to us does not guarantee a positive review, however, we will be fair and honest and explain any reasons why we liked or didn’t like a book. We review stories for readers, not so that authors have a good sound-bite for their own personal use.
If, after all that, you are still wanting to send your story to us, then please e-mail us with an unlocked pdf copy of your book. It would also be helpful if you could include a publisher link.
Please note that we reserve the right not to review a submitted story at our own discretion. We also do not guarantee a review within a specified time following release. We will attempt to be timely, however sheer volume and other commitments on the reviewers’ part, make us unable to meet rigid time-lines following publication. Older stories that we have not reviewed elsewhere previously are also welcome for submission.
